What’s AIKIDO?
Come and find out!
We’re offering a welcome to come along and watch for a few minutes, or join in for the whole evening and participate in a whirlwind tour of this little-known martial art. Everyone is welcome.
- What time?
The hall will be open from 7:45 and the session ends at 10pm
There’s no need to stay for the whole evening; visitors are welcome to pop in. - What to wear? T-shirt and track suit bottoms is fine. We practice in bare feet on the mats.
- What to bring? A drink of water, an optional donation of £5, an open heart and a smile.
- What will you get? Aikido builds resilience, self-confidence, stress management and non-violence as well as physical skills of self-defence, flexibility, quick reactions, balance and strength of body and mind when under physical or verbal attack.
- Who can come?
Minimum age 14y. We are inclusive and diverse with no religious or political bias. Everyone is welcome.

8:15 Knife demo – existing members only
8:25 Defending from a knife attack -7th form kotegaishe -all
8:35 Delicate hand touch- follow & flow; Ki/unbendable arm – all
8:55 2 man lift demo – existing members only
9:00 Bow out/Water break/any questions?
9:05 Kneeling techniques demo – existing members only
9:10 Kokudosa (kneeling) – all
9:20 Handshake attack (1st form ikkyo-take one step in) – all
9:50 Stretch out & breathing to slow/change system – all
10:00 Bow out – all
